How can I reduce the amount of mosquitoes in my area? How can I prevent mosquitoes from breeding outside my home?

Category: Mosquito Control

Eliminate standing water in your yard; clean out birdbaths every 4-5 days; drain containers holding water; do not flush grass clippings into your storm drain or nearby ditch/canal. These steps will help control the number of container breeding mosquitoes, but will have no effect on salt marsh mosquitoes. In Chatham County, we have two main salt marsh mosquito species. They can fly excess of 25 miles and only breed/lay eggs in and around the salt marsh. Homeowners will have no effect on these populations.
